Two people were killed in separate shootings in St. Paul early Sunday morning.

St. Paul Police Department said the shootings happened around three hours apart, the first of which saw a man in his 30s brought wounded to Regions Hospital after a shooting in a parking ramp in the 400 block of Jackson Street in downtown St. Paul.

The man was rushed to surgery but died a short time later. Police are holding the person who drove the victim to Regions, noting that their vehicle had bullet holes in the windshield.

Police say a motive hasn't been determined, but it's not believed to be a random shooting.

The second shooting happened during a reported robbery at 3:15 a.m. on Raspberry Island. Police arrived at the scene to find a man in his 20s suffering from a gunshot wound sitting in a vehicle.

He was taken to Regions Hospital, where he died. Police say he was shot during the course of a robbery, with no arrests made as of Sunday morning.

The victims will be identified at a later date by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office.

They mark the 19th and 20th homicides in St. Paul this year. By the same time in 2020, there had been 21 homicides.
