Two percent raise OK’d for state employees

The Minnesota House of Representatives approved a new contract for state workers on Thursday by a vote of 83-44. The Associated Press reports that it includes their first raise in more than 3 years. The DFL-controlled Senate ratified the contract last week. The measure goes to Gov. Mark Dayton, who is expected to sign it.

The new deal will give a two percent raise to about 35,000 state workers. The contract covers employees from seven unions and working groups, including the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees and the Minnesota Association of Professional Employees.
