2 sugar plant workers seriously injured after fall into scalding water
Two men suffered serious burn injuries this weekend after a fall into 200-degree water that was near the boiling point, KVLY in Fargo reports.
A 21-year-old laborer at the American Crystal Plant Co. in East Grand Forks had significant burns all over his body, the station reported. The other, a 32-year-old, burned his hands and feet, KVLY reports.
The Associated Press says the 21-year-old was airlifted to a burn unit in the Twin Cities. Neither their identities nor their conditions have been released.
The Minnesota office of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is also reviewing an accident at the same factory in February, according to the Grand Forks Herald. A worker was badly burned when hot syrupy liquid reportedly spewed out of a large tank.
