U of M alert: Man followed victim from bus, tried to break into apartment
Police are investigating after a man followed a victim off a bus and tried to break into his apartment near the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
According to a University of Minnesota Police Department SAFE-U Advisory, the attempted burglary happened in the area of Como Avenue Southeast and 27th Avenue Southeast in Minneapolis at 8:46 p.m. Monday.
The suspect — described as a thin, 5-foot-9 man wearing an orange and red jacket — followed the victim off the bus and ran at the victim as he was opening the door to his apartment.
The victim shut and locked his door before the suspect could get inside.
UMPD is investigating and is reminding people to be aware of their surroundings.
