U of M hosts $3,500 female orgasm event
The University of Minnesota is hosting a $3,500 forum about female orgasms.
"Orgasm aficionados and beginners of all genders are welcome to come learn about everything from multiple orgasms to that mysterious G-spot. [Speakers] Kate and Marshall cover it all with lots of humor, plenty of honesty, and an underlying message of sexual health and women's empowerment," the U's event posting says.
A university spokeswoman, Patricia Mattern, told conservative website Campus Reform that the program costs the university $3,406 and is part of the university’s research mission.
“This educational workshop is open to the full university community and participation is voluntary,” she wrote in her email. “As a research institution, we study, publish and educate on a vast range of topics, including human sexuality.”
CityPages notes that the event falls not long after university President Eric Kaler announced a review of university spending, and a Wall Street Journal article that noted the U has been on an administrative "spending spree."
The New York Post wrote up its own story about the U of M event. The speakers, who are part of a New York-based group that has presented discussions about sex at a long list of colleges and universities nationwide, say their female orgasm talk is their most popular.
