If you're going anywhere this weekend, Twin Cities travelers, best make your plans now.
That's because a huge stretch of I-35W will be closed in Minneapolis and the northern suburbs, meaning a significant detour for anyone going north or south through the west metro.
The 15-mile stretch between Hwy. 62 in the south and I-694 in the north will shut down at 10 p.m. on Friday, and won't re-open until 5 a.m. Monday.
The detour will send drivers Hwy. 62, Hwy. 100 and I-694.
The closures could impact anyone leaving the Journey and Def Leppard show at Target Field Friday evening, or planning to attend the Loring Park Art Festival on Saturday and Sunday.
Interstate 35W is undergoing reconstruction as part of a major improvement project on the busy freeway between now and 2021.
It's seeing new ramps built, bridges replaced, transit stations upgraded and new lanes added.
It'll no doubt improve things when it's done, but in the meantime it's leading to reactions like this on social media.
