The eel-like creature has been a native of Minnesota waters for more than 10,000 years, but it's not everyday you hook one. "I kept on thinking about throwing it back, but when I seen that mouth, I knew it wasn't very good for the fish," Paul DesChene tells WDAY-TV. He caught it on the Buffalo River near Moorhead.

WCCO reports bars and restaurants are upset with police pulling over customers and staff. The owners claim the increased patrols are hurting their business. The city council asked the police department to conduct an internal investigation.

A 16-year-old girl from Hastings reeled in a huge fish while on vacation in Alaska. The Hastings High School junior and her father fought a massive halibut for about an hour, but were unable to get it out of the water. After measuring the fish, it was determined it weighed at least 375 lb. Of all the halibut measured by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, only 13 have been larger.

Bar owner Michael Skov, who died in a car crash in April on Minnesota Highway 13, had a blood-alcohol content of more than four times the legal limit, according to officials Thursday. Skov owned the Bend in the Road bar in Manchester, Minn.

The shorelines of Lake Superior is home to a large outdoor ice bar known as "Blu." It's located about 10 miles north of Two Harbors. WCCO reports this ice bar features 60,000 pounds of ice transformed into chandeliers, benches, shot glasses, and sculptures, including a 16-foot replica of the Split Rock Lighthouse. Blu is open Fridays and Saturdays.

The owners of the Road Trip Roadhouse and Bar in Dover tell KAAL-TV they were "blind-sided" by police charges for a show they say they've been putting on for years. Undercover officers say the show violated city code by displaying "less than completely and opaquely covered human buttocks" and "simulated sexual activities."

Organizers of the 22nd Annual Brainerd Jaycees $150,000 Ice Fishing Extravaganza had to postpone the event last month because of thin ice conditions on Gull Lake. The Star Tribune reports more than 10,000 anglers took part in the event this weekend.
