University of Minnesota student flees attempted sexual assault

A University of Minnesota student was the victim of an attempted sexual assault in Minneapolis on Friday morning.

Minneapolis police says that the incident happened on the 600 block of 8th Street SE, in the Saint Anthony Main neighborhood, at around 6 a.m.

The student was walking when she was grabbed by a suspect, who tried to pull her into nearby bushes while he groped her.

The woman was able to get away from him, with the suspect then fleeing into the local neighborhood.

The suspect is described as a male of unknown race and age, about 5'9" tall, wearing all black and smelling of cigarettes.

Members of the Minneapolis PD Second Precinct are handing out flyers in the area and knocking on doors to advise people of what happened.
