The original story from Monday morning is below.
Police are looking for a stolen border collie, who was inside a running vehicle outside of a hotel near Mall of America when the vehicle was stolen.
Bloomington police said officers responded to the Element Hotel at 2400 82nd St. E after the vehicle was reported stolen just after 10 p.m. Sunday.
The victim has parked his 2017 Kia Sorento outside the hotel "as he checked on persons inside." He left the car running with his dog, Remy, a blue merle border collie, inside.
Hotel surveillance video shows the suspect and police are following up on those images, a release says.
WCCO spoke to the victim, Rizwan Siwani of Rochester, who went to Bloomington with his family to celebrate his son's upcoming birthday.
“Obviously it’s a big deal having the car stolen, but for us the biggest deal is the fact that Remy was in the car,” Siwani told WCCO, noting Remy is not even a year old.
According to FOX 9, Remy is friendly, has a red collar without any tags and is microchipped.
As of 8:20 a.m. Monday, the dog nor the vehicle had been recovered, police told Bring Me The News.
Anyone with information on the vehicle (Minnesota license plates AXE459) or the dog is asked to call the Bloomington Police Department at 952-563-4900.
