Veterinarian suffers head injury after being hit by charging steer
A veterinarian suffered a serious head injury after he was struck by a charging steer on Thursday.
The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office says that 30-year-old Dr. Derek Adams, of the Chosen Valley Veterinary Clinic in Chatfield, was injured at a farm in Rock Dell Township around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
He was inside a building when he was charged by a steer, and at one point appeared to have no pulse.
But he was revived at the scene and by the time he was taken to Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, he had regained consciousness.
An update by Chosen Valley Veterinary Clinic on Friday said that Adams had been released from the hospital "and is home for some much needed rest."
"Dr Adams would like to thank everyone for all of the well wishes," it added.
The Rochester Post Bulletin reports Adams was attempting to corral the steer when he was hit in the stomach and lifted off the ground, before falling back and hitting his head hard.
