A woman was fatally stabbed as police were responding to a report of a medical emergency and dispute in rural Bagley on Labor Day.
The incident unfolded around 8:30 p.m. on the 14000 block of 336th Street in the city of Bagley. Bagley PD and the Clearwater County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and made contact with a person who "became uncooperative and fled on foot," a release from the sheriff's department said.
As officers were looking for the uncooperative individual at a neighboring residence, they could hear a female yelling inside the residence and then saw the person they were looking for in a "struggle" inside the home.
Officers entered the home and attempted to Taser the individual, but the person "brandished a knife and stabbed the victim before running from the residence into a wooded area," the release said.
The victim was treated at the scene and then transported to Sanford Hospital in Bagley where she was pronounced dead. Her age and identity have not been released.
The suspect was found after law enforcement searched for several hours. The unidentified suspect has been booked into the Clearwater County Jail and is facing a pending charge of second-degree murder.
