Victim in Minneapolis hit-and-run identified as St. Paul woman
The woman who was killed in a hit-and-run crash in south Minneapolis over the weekend has been identified as a 42-year-old from St. Paul.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner says Stacy Ann Morrison died of "multiple blunt force injuries" at the intersection of East Lake Street and Bloomington Avenue at 1:35 p.m. on Aug. 21.
The manner of her death is still pending further investigation by the Minneapolis Police Department.
Investigators said a possibly dark-colored sedan was southbound on Bloomington Avenue when it struck the woman, the MPD said. The vehicle then fled the scene.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Morrison unconscious. She didn't have a pulse and wasn't breathing.
Morrison was pronounced dead at the scene.
MPD spokesperson John Elder told Bring Me The News on Monday investigators are making "good headway" on the investigation but there is nothing public that can be reported.
The MPD says Morrison's death is the 16th "vehicle-related" death this year in Minneapolis. At this time last year, there were 12 "vehicle-related" deaths in the city.
