Victims of triple-fatal Maple Grove crash ID'd as woman, 2 toddlers
Three people killed in a single-vehicle crash in Maple Grove Saturday morning have been identified as a young Minneapolis woman and two young children.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victims Monday afternoon as 25-year-old Kiara Tashay Jones, 3-year-old Lily My'Joy Kendrick and 2-year-old Joshua Vishnu Kendrick.
All three died of multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the car crash on Dunkirk Lane just north of 77th Avenue North. Maple Grove Police Department said the crash happened at approximately 6:54 a.m. Saturday.
Citing Maple Grove police, the Star Tribune reports that Jones is the mother of both children killed in the crash, adding that she was driving the car when it crashed and that her 23-year-old boyfriend was injured but survived.
Jones died at the scene. The 3-year-old girl died at Children's Hospital in Minneapolis, and the 2-year-old boy was pronounced dead after being taken to Hennepin Healthcare in Minneapolis, according to the medical examiner's report.
