Video: Appeal to ID hit-and-run snowmobilers on Lake Minnetonka
The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office has issued an appeal to identify the operators of two snowmobiles involved in a hit-and-run crash on Lake Minnetonka on January.
Police have been unable to track down any suspects involved in the Jan. 29 incident, which saw a portable fish house tent struck by one of two snowmobiles traveling at high speed on the lake.
A woman who was inside the fish house, which was situated on Wayzata Bay, was "badly injured" in the crash. A man who was with her had stepped outside to check his tip-up fishing road when the crash happened.
Neither of the operators of the two snowmobiles speeding on the lake stopped to help, and ultimately fled the area via Lower Lake.
The sheriff's office has released this video showing the moment the collision happened.
"Investigators believe the snowmobile involved is a newer Skidoo and likely has front end damage, including damage to the windshield," the sheriff's office said.
