The scene at Hennepin and Lagoon on June 26, after police shut the intersection down over another incident involving 'hot rodders.'

Video taken in Uptown Wednesday night shows a driver doing donuts in an intersection while a passenger fired shots into the air.

The footage shows a dark colored sedan driving in circles at the intersection of Hennepin and Lagoon, near Uptown Theater, with a male wearing white hanging out of the rear passenger side window firing a gun.

A crowd of people watched the incident unfold, though some took cover when the shots rang out. It was one of several incidents involving vehicles captured in a video at the intersection Wednesday night, with some small fires also set in trash cans.

Here's the clip of the incident, which was broadcast on streaming site Happs by the Vizual Twelve Media Group.

A later video, shared below, shows police arriving at Hennepin and Lake Street carrying zip-ties, with some of the vehicles involved in the donuts leaving the area.

The incident happened while a small group of protesters continued to demonstrate police brutality near Lake Street and Girard Avenue, where Winston Smith was killed by law enforcement last month and where protester Deona Marie Knajdek was killed by a driver who plowed into a crowd.

Video from outside Stella's Fish Cafe shows protesters calling for the release of any video footage police have of Smith's killing.

At one point, police flood the intersection and order protesters to leave, eventually issuing a dispersal order.

Authorities say there is no video footage of Smith's fatal shooting by county deputies, who were part of a task force led by U.S. Marshals. Smith's girlfriend this week said that the 32-year-old was pulling out a cellphone to record the interaction when he was shot, with police claiming he had a gun.

Bring Me The News has reached out to Minneapolis Police Department to find out details about its response, if any arrests were made, and if it's investigating the individual firing a gun into the air.

This story will be updated if and when we receive a response.

Uptown has been the scene of continuing protests since Smith's June 3 death, with criticism of law enforcement in the city renewed this week after Leneal Frazier was killed when his car was struck by an MPD squad vehicle that was chasing a carjacking suspect on the city's North Side.

The concern over unrest in Uptown was cited as the reason this week for the cancellation of this year's Uptown Art Fair, part of which takes place on Hennepin Avenue between 28th and 31st Streets.
