Southern Minnesota is now home to the largest cidery of its kind in the Midwest.

Loon Juice, created by the owners of Four Daughters Vineyard & Winery in Spring Valley recently completed construction on a new 14,000-square-foot facility.

It's got custom-made tanks for fermenting its flagship HoneyCrisp Hard Cider, as well as its three new flavors, which are expected in liquor stores across the state any day now.

There's also a new canning line, and a flash pasteurizer – the process doesn’t strip flavors like traditional tunnel pasteurization, which is “almost always used,” Kristin Osborne, of Four Daughters, told BringMeTheNews.

We took a look inside the new cidery, and got all the details about how many Minnesota-invented HoneyCrisp apples actually go into a can of Loon Juice.

As Loon Juice expands its production, it will also expand distribution. Currently, consumers can buy the cider throughout Minnesota, in Wisconsin and the Dakotas. Loon Juice says it is considering expanding to more Midwestern states this summer.

People can also visit Loon Juice’s taproom and restaurant, located at the Four Daughters winery, as well as take free tours of the new facility.
