Vikings vs. Packers, Week 7 preview

Sure, the Vikings are nine-point underdogs -- but "on any given Sunday" anything can happen in the NFL. Toss in a wild crowd, a rookie quarterback and an undefeated team overdue for a loss, and ... the Pack should still win.

This Sunday at the Metrodome, it's the Packers and the Vikings in what looks to be a Green Bay victory on paper. The 6-0 Packers are nine point favorites against the 1-5 Vikings, a team which gave the starting quarterback job to rookie Christian Ponder over veteran Donovan McNabb.

Ponder, however, still isn't seen as the key to the game in some circles. That honor still goes to Adrian Peterson.

Packers players agree that stopping AP is the key, and don't really care who's behind center. But they do say the Vikings are "starving"to save their season, and may be more dangerous than advertised, especially at home.

Offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave, meanwhile, says Vikings fans should expect to see a more limber offense with Ponder in the pocket. That means more passes downfield, more scrambling and -- reality check -- more "boneheaded mistakes."

The bottom line is that this Border Battle remains drama-filled even though one team is great, and the other hopes to be great before the decade is over. The numbers say it all: Green Bay could open 7-0 for the first time in 50 years. The Vikings, on the other hand, are trying to avoid their worst start in more than two decades.

What's your take on Sunday's game? Glad Ponder is in? Think it will matter? Let us know...
