Waking up to frost, flurries, flakes--and more

It's more than frost on some pumpkins around the state of Minnesota.

KSTP had some photos of snow on the ground in some communities around the state on Sunday morning. A dusting was evident along a line from Rogers/Elk River to Lino Lakes/Stillwater and points north.

The Duluth News Tribune the season’s first measurable snowfall is expected to arrive later Sunday as a clipper-type storm system brings moisture, gusty winds and colder air. Sleet should should switch to all snow in the evening. The snow showers could leave perhaps 2 to 4 inches behind.

The Fargo Forum said the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for parts of North Dakota and Minnesota with snowfall of 1 to 4 inches expected. The advisory area includes Cass, Traill, Steele and Griggs counties in North Dakota and Clay, Becker, Otter Tail, Norman, Mahnomen, Wadena and Hubbard counties in Minnesota.

In the metro area, a cold rain is expected to continue to fall throughout the day with some flurries mixed in.
