Autopsy: Wal-Mart gunman was drunk at time of deadly shooting

The gunman in last month's deadly Wal-Mart shooting in Grand Forks, North Dakota, was drunk when he opened fire in the store, killing one worker and injuring another before taking his own life.

That's the conclusion of a preliminary autopsy report, which found that 21-year-old Marcell Willis – an airman stationed at the nearby Air Force base – had a blood alcohol level 0.19 percent at the time of the shooting, KVVR reports.

That's more than twice the legal limit in North Dakota.

The Star Tribune notes that Willis's motive remains unknown, and that he had no apparent connection to his victims.

The autopsy confirmed that he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, Valley News Live reports.

The stations adds that the full autopsy results – which will determine whether there were any other substances in Willis's body – will be released in another four to six weeks.

70-year-old Wal-Mart employee Gregory Weiland was killed in the incident.

His co-worker, Lisa Braun, was released from the hospital this past weekend, according to the Associated Press. She suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
