The post-Thanksgiving sales aren't just about electronics.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday dominate the consumer headlines at this time of year, but the post-Thanksgiving sales are about more than just electronics.

This is the time of year to find some great discounts on travel experiences, particularly if you're planning a last-minute winter or early-spring getaway.

So what should you look for? The Tip Jar has a few tips for booking travel deals in the week after Thanksgiving.

When's the best time to book flights?

Airlines keep their Black Friday/Cyber Monday plans close to their chest, but Delta says it will be revealing its Black Friday deals on Thanksgiving evening.

Rivals like United and American Airlines are also expected to release their deals on either Thanksgiving or Black Friday, so check their websites for updates.

But Forbes notes that you're more likely to find the best deals after the weekend, with Cyber Monday starting off 48 hours of firesales.

Yet it's not actually Monday when the best airline discounts can be found, according to flight research company Hopper, you can find the biggest deals on "Travel Deal Tuesday."

The company has analyzed billions of flight prices over the past few years and found that there are far more fare sales the Tuesday after Thanksgiving than there are on Cyber Monday.

"The airlines offer major discounts because travel demand tends to die down following Thanksgiving," Hopper says. "Most travelers have already booked their holiday airfare, but haven't started planning their winter getaways yet."

A good way to keep track of airfare is by using the "Flex Watch" tool on Hopper's app, or Price Alert on the Kayak website or app.

Skyscanner meanwhile will be compiling a list of links to all airline Black Friday deals on this webpage.

Make sure you do your research before booking a discounted flight however. Forbes notes that Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Travel Week Tuesday deals tend to come with greater restrictions than when buying discounted deals at other times of the year.

Be sure to read through the fine print before clicking "confirm," and be flexible about the dates you want to go to give yourself a better chance of a cut-price deal.

What about hotels?

If you're booking flights then you'll be wanting to book hotels as well, and you should keep an eye out for deals the whole week after Thanksgiving. for example is giving away 300,000 coupons starting at 1:01 a.m. on Black Friday, 300 of which will be a "golden ticket" that takes 99 percent off a $1,000+ hotel booking.

The site is also running a whole "Cyber Week" of savings between Nov. 21-29, giving up to 50 percent off on bookings.

Expedia's Black Friday sale starts at 11 a.m. central time with up to 75 percent off select hotels and up to $750 off vacation packages.

On Cyber Monday, savings go up to 90 percent if you're using the Expedia app, otherwise it's 50 percent on the website itself.

Orbitz is offering a six hour flash sale with discounts of 22 percent on hotels from 3:01 PM and 8:59 pm central time on Cyber Monday. Use the discount code CYBERSAVE22.

And if you're looking for a bit of mystery in your travel, Priceline is offering 15 percent off its express deals (where you don't know your hotel until you book) if you sign up for its newsletter.

The Manual reports that you will also find good deals directly from the sites of hotel chains, particularly more upmarket chains like the Hyatt and Starwood.
