A couple from the northwest Minnesota town of Warren awoke to quite the scare, Tuesday morning.

The Forum News Service reports Jon Linnell and his wife were asleep when a deer crashed through their sliding glass door just before 6 a.m.

Linnell's wife woke him up exclaiming there was a deer in their home. Linnell discovered the doe leaping through his living room and tearing it apart.

According to WDAZ, Linnell said "The first thing that came to mind was I had to stop this deer from thrashing and busting everything up. When I came down the steps I saw it had turned, so I tried to tackle it."

Linnell wrestled the deer and eventually was able to get it outside into the frigid minus 18 degree temperature.

He estimates the doe was about 3 1/2 years old and around 135 pounds, according to the Forum report.

The good news from the ordeal is that both Linnell and the deer were just fine.

WDAZ reports the deer's run through Linnell's home did an estimated $2,400 in damage.

Deer entering homes or buildings isn't as uncommon as you might think, especially in northwest Minnesota. In August, a deer jumped into a church window in Moorhead. In that case the deer did not survive, but no one inside the church was hurt.

In May of 2012, a number of panicked deer became disoriented and wandered into a Moorhead mall.

Nothing is much stranger than the scenario in Eau Claire, Wisconsin in October. Over the course of one weekend there were two separate incidents of a deer entering buildings. One jumped through a window in a house and took a 10 minute tour of an Eau Claire resident's home.

The other crashed through a window at the Eau Claire Clarion Hotel.
