The first NBA Awards show in the history of the best basketball league in the world went off without a hitch Monday night in New York. Russell Westbrook won MVP while Draymond Green (Defensive Player), Giannis Antetokounmpo (Most Improved), Malcolm Brogdon (Rookie), Mike D'Antoni (Coach) and Eric Gordon (Sixth Man) took home the other main awards.

But Drake killed it in his opening monologue, with his marquee jokes coming at the expense of Green and LeBron James.

Drake and Will Ferrell had a really funny handshake ski featuring DeMar DeRozan of the Toronto Raptors. The best line came when Drake made fun of DeRozan's name.

"DeMar I say DeLess I like it," he quipped.

On a serious note, Westbrook delivered an emotional speech after taking home the MVP Award. Here it is in full.
