Watch: A 'firehose' of lava pours into the ocean

The stream of lava almost looks fake.

A volcano in Hawaii has been putting on a unique show.

A steady stream (or a "firehose") of lava from the Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park poured into the ocean earlier this week, and when the hot lava hit the colder water, it threw fragments of molten lava into the air, the United States Geological Survey says.

These explosions create dangerous conditions on the land and sea, the USGS notes, but they look pretty cool. Check out the video:
