Jesse Larson is hoping Prince can help him become Minnesota's first winner on the singing showThe Voice.
The Minnesota native performed Prince's "Let's Go Crazy" with coach Adam Levine live on Monday night, and their performance ended with a message to the Purple One. Here's the video:
Larson is one of four contestants left on NBC's The Voice, and Monday was the final night of performances before the winner is announced Tuesday. As part of the first night of the two-part finale, the coaches joined their singers on stage to help sway the voters.
And the Larson-Levine duet was fitting for the Minnesota native, who says Prince helped revive his passion for music.
In fact, Larson auditioned for the Purple One numerous times, and ultimately ended up working with Prince protege Judith Hill. When Prince died last year, the tour was canceled, but Larson’s continued playing.
You can watch to see if Larson wins the competition Tuesday at 8 p.m. on NBC.
