Residents of Coon Rapids had quite the drama Friday when a black bear was spotted running around a neighborhood.

KARE 11 reports that the bear had been seen roaming the streets and climbing trees in a residential area near to Coon Rapids High School, with the Anoka County Sheriff's Department receiving calls throughout the evening.

A video of the bear was posted by Andy Zyvoloski on Twitter, showing the creature climb down from a tree in his garden and run towards his garage.

The Star Tribune reports that sheriff's deputies had been tracking the bear for around two hours, banging pots and pans in attempts to scare it out of trees.

The bear was eventually shot with a tranquilizer dart at around 10 p.m., the newspaper notes, and was taken out of the area safely.
