Longtime friend Jimmy Kimmel gives Tha Doggfather his deepest interview in years.
Snoop Dogg's one of rap's longest tenured greats, and with his forthcoming new album Neva Left largely pulling from his earlier Doggystyle-era imagery, it's only fitting that his promotional run goes deep on his legacy. Given that Kimmel has known him for decades, their unique rapport allowed for quite the dialogue on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! before Snoop performed his new single "Trash Bags."
But before the two began discussing music, Snoop presented Kimmel with a generous donation to Children's Hospital, which the real life Calvin Brodus said he was inspired to make after seeing Kimmel's heartfelt monologue about his newborn son's heart issues a few weeks earlier.
From there, Snoop named the first song that made him fall in love with rap - Jimmy Spicer's "The Adventures of Super Rhymes" (which we highly recommend) as well as named his three favorite rappers of all time. Slick Rick, Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg aren't bad choices at all, and seems pretty honest considering Snoop's always sounded like a hybrid of the first two.
But the best of all Snoop's stories this visit has to be how he and Tupac went parasailing - without really knowing what parasailing was at the time. How this story went untold for over 20 years is a mystery, but it's a must-hear!
