What Carol Suchman just did provides a whole new meaning to "the season of giving."

As WSB-TV reports, the New York City philanthropist has made an annual tradition of donating toys to some of the city's poorest kids.

This year, after walking by a shuttered toy store in the West Village, Suchman decided to do things a little differently. The store had a sign in its window – "For Rent" emblazoned in red.

"When I saw this toy store, I just realized I could do it on a grander scale for this one year," she tells NY1.

So after speaking with the owner, not a single toy, stuffed animal or school supply remained on the shelves. Suchman bought everything in the store.

She donated it all to the city's Department of Homeless Services, where she hopes the gifts will spread some holiday cheer.

"I know everyone can use a gift around the holidays," Suchman told the station.
