Weekend warm-up ahead; and probably no big snow Monday

Here comes the sun?

Not quite, but we will finally get a reprieve from this sub-freezing cold spell.

With a forecast high in the upper 20s, Friday should be the warmest temperatures we've seen in the past 11 days.

The Arctic air will continue to head east Saturday resulting in an even warmer weekend. Look for temperatures to rise well into the 30s, maybe even to near 40 degrees.

Skies are going to be mainly cloudy each day with spotty rain showers Sunday. The chances of an icy mix have dwindled because temperatures appear to be too warm.

Vikings vs Packers Sunday

No cheese popsicles for the game Sunday, but there will be some chilly cheeseheads.

Temperatures are gong to be mild – holding steady in the upper 30s to near 40 from tailgate time through post-game. Spotty showers, mist and fog are possible, though. But wind won't be much of an issue, blowing south/southwest at 5-10 mph.

No snowstorm next week, sorry

Models continue to track our next big storm system well to our east Monday. So, confidence is high heavy snow will affect cities such as the Quad Cities in Iowa, Madison, Wisconsin, and Chicago.

A few light snow showers are possible in Minnesota, but only meager accumulations are expected.

Cold again next week

Behind this system, another blast of arctic air follows.

High temperatures will once again drop well below average into the teens and 20s Tuesday through Thanksgiving Day. At this point, there don't appear to be any major travel problems near or around Thanksgiving Day (other than the cold temps, that is).
