The Mound Westonka High School activities director resigned following the suspension of several students who made a version of the viral "Harlem Shake" videos.

The Star Tribune reports Dion Koltes' resignation is effective at the end of the school day Monday.

Six of the students suspended were varsity hockey players and were required to miss a sectional playoff game as part of their punishment. The short-handed Mound-Westonka squad lost the game to Blake High School.

Koltes was placed on administrative leave after upset parents called for his firing.

The school board accepted the resignation Monday night, saying it's "in the best interests of the District."

According to the agreement, Koltes will be paid $25,881, the amount he would have received had he worked the rest of the school year.

High school baseball coach baseball coach Jeff Peterson is serving as the interim activities director until interviews for the position begin in May.
