If you've left it late to make any plans for Memorial Day, then here's a guide so you know what's open, what's closed, and what's going on in Minnesota today.

Banks: The Star Tribune notes that TCF Bank branches will be open for part of the day, closing at 2 p.m., while branches in Cub Foods will close at 5 p.m. All Wells Fargo, Bremer Bank and U.S. Bank branches will be closed, but U.S. branches in Byerly's stores will open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Convenience stores: Stores including 7-Eleven, Casey's General Stores, SuperAmerica, Speedway should be open on Memorial Day, many will keep their 24-hours schedule, according to Holiday Shopping Hours.

Grocery stores: Most major stores including Target, Walmart and Cub Foods will open for Memorial Day, though you should check your local store's listings in case there is any change in the hours.

Malls and other stores: Memorial Day is a big day for sales, so most malls across the state will be opening up, though their hours may be different so it's worthing checking in advance.

Most major retailers will open their standalone stores too, including Best Buy, Home Depot, Kohl's, Macy's, Marshall's and Nordstrom. You can find a more comprehensive list of open stores here courtesy of Al.com.

Memorial Day Services and events: For anyone who is looking to mark Memorial Day by attending a remembrance service or event somewhere in the state, then check out these listings for what's going on, where and when.

WCCO notes however that rain is forcing some services to be changed or cancelled, with the Memorial Day Parade in Prior Lake cancelled, and the 9.30 a.m. service moved from Memorial Park to Twin Oaks Middle School, while all outdoor services in Jordan have also been cancelled and will be moved to Jordan High School.

Parking meters: Good news for anyone visiting downtown events, as WCCO reports that parking meter rules will NOT be enforced today. The Star Tribune adds that the University of Minnesota and Minneapolis' parks will only enforce parking restrictions if it is noted on the meter.

Pharmacies: Major national drugstore chains including Walgreens and CVS will be open.

Public buildings: These will be closed in observance of Memorial Day.

Post Offices: These will be closed and there will be no mail service.

Public schools: Closed.

Roads: Many road construction projects have been suspended for the long-weekend to reduce holiday congestion, but there are still a number of closures that will remain in place, you can find out what they are here.

State parks: The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has been running a number of events at its state parks over Memorial Day weekend, and there are still a few to go today including activities at Fort Snelling, Forestville and Whitewater state parks.

You can find more information here.

Transit: Metro Transit says that its buses and blue and green light rail lines will follow Sunday/Holiday schedules, while the red line follows weekend/Holiday schedules.

The Northstar service will not be running, but there will trains to take people to the trains leaving southbound from Big Lake at 11.53 a.m., and returning from Target Field Station 30 minutes after the last out. You can get the schedule here.
