Whew! 70+ degrees in November, records set throughout the state

Whew... is it really November?

Saturday was a warm one, with record highs being set throughout the state.

The Twin Cities reached 73 degrees just before 4 p.m. The previous record for Nov. 5 was 71 degrees in 2001, the National Weather Service reports.

According the the Weather Channel, this is well above the average temperature high for this time of year. That's just 48 degrees in the Twin Cities.

Other parts of the state set records too.

In St. Cloud, temps reached 72 degrees by 3 p.m. The last time it was that warm on a Nov. 5 was 1975.

It was warm in northern parts of the state as well. Duluth set a record with 69 degrees by 2 p.m.

The last record was 68 degrees set in 1975.

Parts of the state got close to 80 degrees.

The NWS says areas west of Montevideo got up to 77 degrees.

What's ahead?

Forecasters say Sunday will be another warm one with temperatures well above historic averages. It won't be quite as warm as Saturday, though.

The high in the Twin Cities metro is expected to be 68, with highs in St. Cloud around 67 degrees.

Duluth's also expected to get highs above 65 degrees.

Then starting Monday, temps will drop into the 50s for most of the state.

So enjoy the weather while you can. It's supposed to be an extra cold, extra snowy winter.
