Whoops ... Here's how not to spend this warm, spring-like weekend

This is the second vehicle in two days.

When warmer than usual weather hits Minnesota in February, go ahead – cruise around with the windows down.

Maybe just don't do it on the ice.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office said this car broke through the ice on Lake Minnetonka's Wayzata Bay around 7:40 a.m.

The good news: the owner got out and no one was injured.

The bad news: that car is sitting in a lake, probably not in the best shape, and the owner has to pay to get it out.

So the moral of the story is be very careful on the ice. Especially since this is the second car in two days that's fallen through. On Friday, a truck broke through on Lake Minnetonka. No one was injured there, either.

Some parts of the state hit 60 degrees Friday, and officials say the ice on lakes is deteriorating.

The sheriff's office notes channel and shorelines areas are especially dangerous and people should always avoid those places.

Officials also recommend wearing a life jacket, carrying ice picks and a rope, not going out at night, and keeping pets on a leash.

The Department of Natural Resources has more ice safety tips here.
