Why is there a helicopter flying over downtown Minneapolis?
If you saw or heard that helicopter circling above downtown Minneapolis Friday morning, don't freak out: It's just for a commercial.
The Minneapolis Police Department said the chopper would be hovering around U.S. Bank Stadium and the IDS Tower mid-morning as a film crew shoots a TV ad.
The PD knows, city leaders know, everything's cool, police said.
"A permit is not needed for this activity and there is no reason to be alarmed," the department added.
A spokesperson for the city told GoMN it's a Super Bowl-related ad.
The chopper was weaving in and out of gray clouds around 8:50 a.m. Friday, sometimes hovering in place for short periods before swooping over to another region of downtown.
If weather doesn't cooperate, they might do some additional filming Saturday morning as well, MPD tweeted.
