Channel 3000 reports the Beloit Memorial High School student was taken out of class Thursday, but returned after school – at that point the student stood in front of the classroom door and threatened the teacher with a fan, refusing to let the teacher leave.

The teacher emailed for help and tried to "de-escalate" the situation, WIFR reports. The student eventually fled and was later caught.

The student is charged with felony false imprisonment, according to reports.

Both news stations also discuss teacher and school safety, and what measures can be considered.

A couple years ago, NEA Today put together an article asking whether violence against teachers was an "overlooked crisis."

The site cited a statistic from the American Psychological Association that found 80 percent of the K-12 teachers surveyed were "victimized at school at least once in the current school year or prior year."

About half reported harassment, while others noted theft or property damage; one-fourth of respondents said they had been physically attacked.
