Wild roster moves include callups, injured reserve, and waivers

Wild place big, young, promising player on waivers.

The Minnesota Wild made a bunch of roster moves Monday, calling up two players from Iowa, moving one of their best defenders to injured reserve, and placing one of their promising young players on waivers.

The Wild recalled forwards Zack Mitchell and Alex Tuch from Iowa, then placed Jonas Brodin on injured reserve and put Tyler Graovac on waivers.

Graovac, has six goals in 45 games this season – two of them came against Edmonton on Jan. 31. The move means any NHL team could make a claim on the 6-foot-5 center.

According to the Star Tribune, the Wild have not been happy with their fourth line including Graovac, Chris Stewart and Jordan Schroeder the last few weeks.

While Graovac cleared waivers earlier this year, there's more of a danger that he could be claimed now. The Hockey Writers listed six teams they think should claim him.

  • Arizona Coyotes
  • Carolina Hurricanes
  • Colorado Avalanche
  • St. Louis Blues
  • Toronto Maple Leafs
  • Vancouver Canucks

With the shakeup the Wild add Mitchell, 24, who has skated in 10 games with the team this year. He has 14 points (8 goals, 6 assists) in 39 games with Iowa this season and tallied 42 points (22 goals, 20 assists) in 70 games in Iowa last year.

Tuch, 20, has played three games with the Wild this year. He has 25 points in 36 games at Iowa including nine points (5 goals, 4 assists) over the last six games.
