Willmar police officer injured during pursuit of stolen vehicle

There were two kids in the stolen suspect vehicle.

A Willmar police officer suffered minor injuries while chasing a suspect in a stolen SUV over the weekend. 

According to a release from Willmar Police Department, at around 3 a.m. Saturday the officer spotted a Dodge Journey that had been reported stolen out of Renville County. 

The driver of the stolen vehicle ignored attempts by the officer to pull him over and eventually crashed into a snowbank in the 900 block of Minnesota Ave. SE in Willmar. 

The 26-year-old suspect then backed the stolen vehicle into the officer's squad car, causing minor damage with the officer suffering minor injuries. 

Two children were in the stolen vehicle during the pursuit. Both were uninjured. 

The suspect was arrested on and now faces pending charges for fleeing in a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, reckless driving, driving with a revoked license and child endangerment.
