Winds gusting to 70 mph just north of the Twin Cities metro area

The winds are associated with a dying line of storms.

Very strong winds are hammering areas in east-central Minnesota, with gusts up to 70 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS posted a map to Twitter, circling an area from St. Cloud to Cambridge and into western Wisconsin that could experience gusts of 50-70 mph. The strong winds are associated with dying thunderstorms.

A high wind warning is in effect until 1 p.m. for the following counties: Mille Lacs, Benton, Sherburne, Isanti, Chisago, and Polk.

Doug Kiesling post three photos on Twitter that show tree downed, even uprooted, in St. Cloud.
