A Winona State University senior was found dead Monday night inside a food service elevator at a Fountain City, Wisconsin, restaurant, according to reports.

Brooke Baures, 21, is a Wisconsin native and gymnast at Winona who worked at the WingDam Saloon and Grill in nearby Fountain City. She was found dead in the restaurant's food service elevator, also called a dumbwaiter, Monday night, according to the La Crosse Tribune.

The restaurant was closed Tuesday.

Police do not suspect foul play or any criminal activity, but they continue to investigate the incident. The cause of death hasn't been released, pending an autopsy, ABC 6 reports.

Police haven't identified the woman, but Winona State University identified her as Baures Tuesday morning.

Baures was majoring in social work, according to her bio on the school's website.

"She was a leader on the team and a talented gymnast,"Winona State athletic director Eric Schoh said in a statement, according to the Winona Daily News. “This is a tremendous loss for our community, and we ask that you keep Brooke and her family, friends, coaches and teammates in your thoughts.”

The university is making counseling services available Tuesday and Wednesday, according to a post on its Facebook page.

Fatal dumbwaiter incidents are rare. The Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administrations lists just two deaths involving dumbwaiters in the United States between 2003 and 2013.
