If you're planning on heading out to the East Coast this weekend, better check your flight status.

Thousands of flights to Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Charlotte and other cities near the coast have been cancelled, according to FlightAware.

Even more have been delayed, including several from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, because of "Winter Storm Jonas."

FlightAware says more than 30 flights from Minneapolis were cancelled Friday. More than 20 have already been cancelled for Saturday.

WCCO says MSP was busy Friday morning as travelers tried to hop a plane before the storm. However, the station says many people will be stuck in the Twin Cities for at least a night while they wait for another flight.

Flights to Memphis, Nashville, Washington and Raleigh were among those cancelled, according to the station.

Jonas is expected to hit up to 15 states, the Weather Channel reports, with some regions getting one to two feet of snow.

According to CNN, this could be the biggest storm to ever hit the nation's capital.

In addition to heavy snow, storm Jonas is expected to bring dangerous ice, wind gusts up to 80 miles-per-hour, flooding and power outages this weekend, the Weather Channel says.
