Wis. DOT rolls out app to prevent drunk driving
Too drunk to drive? There's an app for that.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation launched a free "Drive Sober" app just in time for St. Patrick's Day weekend.
The Winona Daily News reports the app allows users to estimate blood-alcohol levels, select a designated driver and find taxi numbers and bus schedules. More than 8,000 people have downloaded the app.
Agencies around the country step up law enforcement as St. Patrick's Day is one of the largest drinking holidays of the year.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety says the celebration has a dangerous history on the roadways with 11 traffic deaths in the last five years.
