A woman and a 18-month-old child were found dead by police in Cloquet on Saturday, and a suspect remains at large, according to Cloquet Police Department.
Police issued a release Sunday saying officers located the deceased 27-year-old woman and 18-month-old boy inside a residence on the 1600 block of Locke Lane on the Fond du Lac Indian Reservation after a concerned citizen requested a welfare check around 1 p.m. Saturday.
The victims' identities have not been released, but police say it is believed the victims and suspect had a relationship "or otherwise knew each other."
Police have identified 33-year-old Sheldon J. Thompson, of Cloquet, as a suspect. He is believed to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
Thompson is Native American, approximately 5'7'' and 180 pounds with brown eyes and possibly a shaved head. He might be driving a dark-colored sedan, possibly a Buick LeSabre or Park Avenue, or a tan Honda Accord with Wisconsin registration.
A motive for the killings is under investigation and there are numerous witnesses to interview, police said.
Anyone with knowledge of Thompson's whereabouts should call 911.
