A young woman died Friday when she was struck by a motorist who may have been impaired.
According to Hopkins police, the 26-year-old woman was struck by a driver on Mainstreet and North 15th Avenue at 6:56 p.m. Friday. Officers responding to the scene arrived to find the woman already dead.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim Sunday as Olivia M. DeMeuse, of Hopkins. She died of multiple blunt force injuries.
Hopkins PD said a 28-year-old man driving the striking vehicle was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. It's unclear if the man will face criminal charges.
A meal train that has been organized for her family says that the driver "jumped a curb as she walked on a sidewalk," though police have yet to provide specifics about the crash.
