Woman, 44, charged in 'upscale' prostitution operation in Eden Prairie

Investigators say a 44-year-old south Minneapolis woman has been leading a double life, earning $400 an hour as an upscale prostitute in Eden Prairie, Patch and Fox 9 report.

Lora LePoudre has been charged with misdemeanor prostitution, which carries a maximum penalty of 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine if she’s convicted, Patch noted in first reporting the story last week. Here's the criminal complaint, posted by Patch.

Investigators say LePoudre put a modern spin on the world's oldest profession with a slick website, where she appeared under the alias Hilary Holiday and described her preferences (over 30 non-smokers) and outlined her rates: $400 an hour, $500/hour for couples and $2,500 for the evening. The website notes, "Safe and discrete fun is my specialty. I take great pride in what I do and approach life and business in a very spiritual manner."

Sgt. Dennis Paulson told Fox 9 that the Hilary Holiday website advertised some of the highest rates for prostitution that he has seen. He said it took officers months to set up a sting, Fox 9 reported.

Eden Prairie police were tipped off to the prostitution operation in May by the management office of a condominium complex. Condo managers told police that they received an anonymous letter about the "well-known" prostitute, Patch reported.

The Hilary Holiday website includes a link to the documentary "American Courtesans," a movie about "modern day escorts in America.” The movie site IMDb's page about the movie lists Hillary Holiday as a cast member.

LePoudre is due in court March 13, Patch reports.

Law enforcement officials have been arguing that they need updated laws and new tools to fight prostitution in an Internet age, the Associated Press reported.
