A woman reportedly armed with a knife was tasered and maced by police following a chase in Waite Park late Friday evening.
The incident was sparked at 11:15 p.m. when a Waite Park PD officer saw a driver speeding and driving without lights on, leading to an attempted stop at around Division and 10th Avenue.
The driver fled however, leading police on a pursuit through Waite Park, into St. Cloud, and then back to Waite Park, with the suspect driving erratically, at a high rate of speed, and at one point on the wrong side of the road, according to Waite Park PD.
Stearns County deputies deployed two sets of stop sticks, and were able to deflate some of the vehicle's tires, prompting it to stop in the 2200 block of County Rd, only for the driver to flee again as officers tried to call her out of the vehicle.
The vehicle came to a stop for a second time, at which point police learned the 25-year-old woman from St. Cloud was armed with a knife.
Police negotiated with her on the phone for 35 minutes, before she drove off for a third time, finally stopping after striking two squad cars in the parking lot of the McKay's dealership.
"At that time, a pepperball (mace) and taser were both used to gain control of [the suspect] so that she could be placed into custody," Waite Park PD.
She has been booked for probable cause fleeing police, assault, DWI, reckless driving, speeding, and driving without lights when required.
A Sauk Rapids and St. Joseph squad car were damaged, but no injuries or other damage was reported.
