Woman arrested after man shot dead in Minneapolis home

Police were initially told the man's wound was self-inflicted.

Police have arrested a woman after a man was shot dead at a Minneapolis home Friday evening.

The incident was reported at 7:48 p.m. in the 4000 block of Humboldt Avenue North, with police initially told the man had suffered a "self-inflicted gunshot wound."

When officers arrived they found a man in his 40s dead, and interviewed a woman in her 30s at the scene.

Per MPD spokesman John Elder, "officers noted some inconsistencies and notified the Homicide Unit. Detectives came out and started an investigation."

The woman was later arrested at the house and interviewed at City Hall. She has since been booked into Hennepin County Jail on probable cause murder.

The victim's identity will be released at a later date by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.

The death marks the 40th homicide in Minneapolis this year.
