Woman dead, suspect critically injured in Shakopee homicide

Police were called to the residence around 4 p.m. Sunday.

A woman was killed in a case of suspected domestic violence in Shakopee on Sunday. 

Shakopee police officials say they received a call at 4:02 p.m. on a report of a fight involving a knife in the 1200 block of Taylor Street. When en route to the scene, officers were informed that a man with a knife had killed someone. 

First responders arrived to find a 27-year-old female victim. Attempts to save her were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her exact cause of death is not being released by police and will be done so accordingly at a later time by the Hennepin County Coroner's Office. 

The suspect in the homicide, identified as a 35-year-old man, suffered self-inflicted injuries. He survived and was taken to a hospital in critical, but stable condition. 

There is no further danger to the public, police say, and the case remains under investigation.
