A vehicle hit and killed a woman who was crossing the street in south Minneapolis on Monday night. 

The woman, who hasn't been identified, was crossing Hiawatha Avenue at 50th Street East just before 10 p.m. when the vehicle struck her. 

The driver "stopped immediately" and is cooperating with the investigation, Garrett Parten, a spokesperson with Minneapolis Police Department, told Bring Me The News

No other details about the incident have been released. 

The medical examiner will identify the woman in the days to come.
