Woman dies in backyard of St. Paul home after shooting Wednesday night
A woman was fatally shot at a home in St. Paul Wednesday night, marking the 21st homicide of 2020 in Minnesota's capital city.
According to police, a 911 caller reported the shooting around 8:45 p.m. on the 1100 block of Bush Ave. on the city's East Side. Officers arrived at the scene and found a woman lying in the backyard. She'd suffered an apparent gunshot wound was unconscious and not breathing.
Lifesaving efforts were attempted by medics but the woman died at the scene.
The Star Tribune reports that the victim is a 61-year-old woman who was at the home with three of her grandchildren, ages 3, 4 and 5, at the time of the homicide.
No arrests have been made and police and homicide detectives continue to investigate.
