Woman dies in crash with semi in southern Minnesota

The crash happened in Windom Township in southern Minnesota.

A woman was killed in a crash at an intersection in southern Minnesota on Friday afternoon, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. 

The crash report says a 78-year-old woman driving a 2006 Toyota Rav4 westbound on County Road 3 in Windom Township when her vehicle collided with a semi that was traveling southbound on Hwy. 56. 

The woman killed in the crash has been identified as Sharon Rose Swallow, 78, of Rose Creek, Minnesota. She was transported by Gold Cross Ambulance to St. Mary's Hospital but did not survive her injuries. 

A 28-year-old Minnesota man driving the semi was not injured in the crash. 

Road conditions were listed as "snow/ice" at the time of the crash. 

According to the Minnesota Department of Traffic Safety, there have been at least 377 fatalities on Minnesota road in 2018, up from 2017's total of 358 road deaths.
