Woman dies in drowning incident at resort on Leech Lake

It happened Monday at Woodland Resort on the west side of Leech Lake.

A woman died after being pulled from the water unresponsive in central Minnesota Monday afternoon. 

According to the Cass County Sheriff's Office, a 911 call reporting a medical emergency was received around 3 p.m. at the Woodland Resort, on Kabekona Bay of Leech Lake in Shingobee Township. 

Deputies and paramedics arrived, learning that a woman was found unresponsive in the water near a dock.

CPR and lifesaving efforts proved unsuccessful and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The woman's identity is being withheld pending notification of family members. 

An investigation into her death is ongoing and an autopsy has been scheduled with the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office.
